Pre-congress Educational Courses



The World Parkinson Congress is pleased to announce that on Tuesday, September 28, 2010, the day of the Opening Ceremony, that three Educational Courses will be offered to delegates. These courses are for health professionals, researchers, people with PD and members of the advocacy community. They will provide the latest information on research and treatment options for Parkinson's disease. Download pre-congress tri-fold brochure here.

Admission to these sessions will be by delegate name badge; no tickets will be required.

Course #1: Scientific (Sponsored by supporting companies)
The sessions that make up this course are sponsored by supporting companies and will only be open to health care professionals. This will be of particular interest to basic and clinical researchers touching on some of the more germane current topics discussion in Parkinson's research today. These sessions have been designed by, and speakers have been selected by, the WPC Leadership. These sessions will offer CME credit. Sessions will run from 08:00 - 18:15. Course #2: Healthcare Teams
This course will be of particular interest to members of healthcare or interdisciplinary teams or to those interested in understanding how to design care models that are patient-centered. Faculty will include interdisciplinary team members from some of the world's leading centers in the area of team care including MDs, PTs, RNs, OTs, SLPs, SWs and others. Course #3: Fundamentals of PD (FoPD)
This course will be open to all registrants, inlcuding healthcare professionals, researchers, and people wtih Parkinson's. The course will cover a number of Parkinson's topics in a manner accessible to non health professionals and should be of interest particularly to those who want to understand the more clinical aspects and options of Parkinson's disease. The topics highlighted in this course will be covered more indepth during the core program. This is offered as an introduction to these topics to help you better under learning options in the core program.. Selected topics covered will be: Cause of PD, Pathology of PD, Medical Therapies, Surgical Therapies, Future Therapies, Clinical Trials, and more. Sessions will run from 09:25 - 16:15.
